Messing around in Garageband
It is not a midi keyboard and is mostly useless for the music I make now, but it was cheap and fairly decent, and it did get me back into playing.
Here's some music I have made without a proper keyboard
No More Days
May 2021
The first musical project I created was called "No more days" (not released anywhere) and was inspired by my post-apocalyptic fantasies manifesting in the development of a little game (more like a 3D art project).
I employed the automatically generated drum beats you are granted in Garageband, and got to work on some tunes. I played notes on my computer keyboard (the one you type letters with :) so the sounds were harsh, as I couldn't regulate key velocity. But I compiled some tracks and shared it with my friends and my older sister. My sister really liked one of them in particular, saying it was perfect for a little game about a cozy cabin in the woods. Nice. I still really like how one of the tracks turned out.
Belly of the Beast
June 2021
It was an epic tale about exploration and restoration of an underground city within the ancient giant World Beast, whose body and citizens were plagued by disease. You travel deep down into the belly of the beast (heh) to defeat the Queen of Malice, and in the end you resurface as a hero.
Tall Tales
December 2021
So I don't think I've shared a single track from this album ever. Anyways it was inspired by adventure shows I used to watch on Cartoon Network as a kid. I experimented with a wide variety of sounds and, uhh, rhythms.
Since the time of these projects, I've acquired a proper midi keyboard and have started working on several other projects or "albums." I've stopped using the auto drummer and am trying to develop my own beats.
